Dr. Areg Grigorian is a board-certified UCI Health surgeon who specializes in trauma, emergency general surgery and surgical critical care. His clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery and complex abdominal wall reconstruction. He specializes in robotic-assisted laparoscopic operations.

Grigorian earned his medical degree at the UC San Diego School of Medicine in La Jolla, followed by a residency in general surgery at the UCI School of Medicine. Next, he completed fellowships in both surgical critical care as well as trauma surgery at the Keck School of Medicine at USC in Los Angeles.

Grigorian has published nearly 200 peer-reviewed studies, including work centered around both pediatric and adult trauma surgery, emergency general surgery, shock, blood product resuscitation and surgical critical care. He is participating in several ongoing single-center and multicenter trials. He is also a surgical educator. He has co-edited two surgical textbooks and is the author of multiple book chapters on a wide range of surgical topics. One of his textbooks, “Surgery: A Case Based Clinical Review,” has been accessed over 1 million times by medical trainees across the globe. His clinical expertise includes trauma surgery, emergency general surgery, surgical critical care, abdominal wall reconstruction and minimally invasive robot-assisted laparoscopic operations.
