Laryngitis
Laryngitis is caused by an inflammation in the vocal cords. This inflammation prevents them from vibrating as they should, which leads to a hoarse voice.
Symptoms
The most common sign of laryngitis is a weak or non-existent voice.
Other symptoms may include:
- Dry throat
 - Dry cough
 - Tickling sensation in throat
 - Sore throat
 - Hoarseness

Causes
Laryngitis is commonly caused by overuse of the voice. It can also occur after a cold or upper respiratory infection.
Less common causes can include allergies, postnasal drip, acid reflux and fungal infections.
Treatment
- Resting. The standard treatment for laryngitis is resting your voice. Do not force the voice out; this can cause damage.
 - Food and fluids. Stay well-hydrated and eat a nutritious, healthy diet to improve healing.
