Patients, families and caregivers gather to share success stories
May 11, 2015
UCI Health, the Orange County Rehabilitation Network and Chapman University invite the public to learn more about living well after stroke at the sixth annual Stroke Awareness Picnic on Saturday, May 16.
Patients, their families and caregivers, as well as physicians, nurses, therapists and researchers will have the opportunity to network and share their personal success stories about meeting the challenges associated with post-stroke life.
“This event is intended to increase awareness of stroke and to give survivors a place to relax at a picnic,” said Dr. Steven Cramer. “Rehabilitation after stroke can be a lifelong process, and the picnic offers a wide variety of informational, educational and inspirational content focused on life after a stroke in a fun environment. Our goal is to provide solutions that can be put to immediate use.”
Food and drinks will be provided and stroke-related vendors will display their products and services. Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite appetizer or dessert to share with the group.
The picnic will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the lawn area between Gross Hall and Hewitt Hall on the UC Irvine campus. Registration is free and available now online or at the event.
