UCI Health OnCall app launched to provide telehealth services to region

January 31, 2020
UCI Health is pleased to announce the launch of UCI Health OnCall, an app-based telehealth service created to increase access for patients to Orange County’s only academic health system.

“UCI Health plays an unsurpassed role in improving the health and wellness of Orange County’s residents,” said Larry A. Anstine, Interim CEO, UCI Health. “Timely treatment is important and UCI Health OnCall offers expanded access anytime providing a connection to world class academic medicine driven by research, expertise and compassion.”

The telehealth service provides around-the-clock access to urgent primary care consultation via phone or video for current and potentially new UCI Health patients in Orange County and across the United States.

Powered by Teladoc Health, the global leader in virtual care, the UCI Health OnCall app is available for iOS and Android users now and can also be accessed on desktops at oncall.ucihealth.org. It offers access to a U.S. board-certified physician 24/7 for patients who are experiencing minor, non-emergent injuries and illnesses, including conditions related to allergies, cold and flu symptoms, ear infections, pink eye and respiratory infections, among others. OnCall physicians can send prescriptions to a patient’s local pharmacy of choice, if medically necessary.

Access to UCI Health OnCall is available to anyone, regardless of their insurance carrier. Visits cost $39, with special promotions and discounts available throughout the year.

Using UCI Health OnCall
All UCI Health OnCall physicians can prescribe short-term medication for a wide range of conditions when medically appropriate. These physicians will not prescribe substances controlled by the DEA, non-therapeutic and/or certain other drugs which may be harmful because of their potential abuse.

UCI Health OnCall does not replace your primary care doctor or your child’s pediatrician. The service should be used when you are in need of care for non-emergency issues only. It is an affordable, convenient alternative to urgent care visits.

PLEASE NOTE: If you think you are having a medical or psychiatric emergency, visit the nearest emergency room or call 9-1-1.
