Green smoothies, beef pho, marinated tofu will provide nutrition, comfort to patients starting this fall

Orange, Calif. — A delicious new menu for patients and visitors was unveiled for a taste test last week at UCI Medical Center in Orange to rave reviews.
This fall, patients in both Orange and at UCI Health ― Irvine will be able to enjoy a menu created by chefs at Morrison along with items developed by chef Kelly Kim of Seoul Sister at Downtown Disney.
The menu’s flavors are heavily influenced by the large Asian-American population in the region, along with American and Mexican dishes.
"Food brings comfort and is an essential part of a patient's healing journey,” says Lauren Silva, assistant director of UCI Health Support Services. “Our patients deserve meals that reflect this warmth and care.”
Some of the delicious items on the menu include:
- Beef pho
- Miso-marinated tofu with wild mushroom risotto and charred baby bok choy
- Ginger chicken bowl with basmati rice and spring mix salad
- Lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberry compote
- New York steak with au jus
- Green smoothie with greens, avocado and coconut milk
The new menu items will go live this fall. The UCI Health ― Irvine acute care hospital opens this December.
