Important Information for Blue Shield of California Members
The University of California's Health system is in active negotiations with Blue Shield of California to remain in network and ensure uninterrupted access to care for our patients.
If a new agreement is not reached, all University of California's healthcare facilities and professionals, including UCI Health clinicians and locations, will be out of network for Blue Shield of California members beginning Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
Plans that may be affected include:
- CalPERS (California Public Employees’ Retirement System) plans
- Employer-sponsored Blue Shield of California plans
- Covered California marketplace plans
- Medicare Advantage plans administered by Blue Shield of California
What happens now?
There are no changes at this time. You can continue seeing your UCI Health clinicians through Monday, June 30, 2025.
If an agreement is not reached, you may face higher out-of-pocket costs or a loss of coverage for care received at UCI Health depending on your plan.
