Becoming a new parent can be an overwhelming and exciting time. That's why UCI Health offers a variety of resources to help you get through parenthood successfully, we offer classes for expectant parents, new parents and parents of young children.
Our classes include:
Prepared Childbirth
This five-class series provides parents-to-be with the skills they need for a successful and positive birth experience. Bring two pillows, a towel or mat and a partner to each class. This class is free to all participants.
Newborn Care
Pregnant women and their birth partners in their last trimester of pregnancy can benefit from this class. Infant feeding, dressing, bathing, diapering, normal newborn appearance and signs and symptoms of illness are discussed. Registration is required. This class is free to UCI Health patients, staff, volunteers and their families; $20 for community members.
Breastfeeding
This class is for pregnant women and their birth partners in the third trimester of pregnancy. Discussion topics include the process of milk production, how to breastfeed, avoiding potential problems and returning to work or school. This class is free to UCI Health patients, staff, volunteers and their families; $20 for community members.

Nursing students
Nursing students from community schools can attend the following parenting classes without registration:
- Newborn Care
- Prepared Childbirth
- Breastfeeding
Requirements for students:
- Bring student ID
- Arrive 5-10 minutes early to make sure there is room in the class
- Notify the instructor that you are a student at the beginning of class
- Dress appropriately in a nursing uniform or business casual attire
Parking instructions:
For classes located at the medical center on 101 The City Drive South in Orange, bring your parking ticket to class for validation. Your ticket will be validated for 2 hours. With validation, the parking fee is $2 for the visitor parking structure or $3 for valet.

Mytonomy Education Videos
Your care team can send you educational videos tailored to your healthcare needs. These videos are on a platform called Mytonomy, which integrates with your MyChart account.
When your care team assigns you a video to watch, you’ll be sent a notification to log in and view it. These videos help you take an active role in your health by educating you on screenings, treatments and procedures your care team recommends for you.
