Informal Bid Process

The UC Irvine Medical Center Planning Administration Department is transitioning into a new informal competitive bid process.

Effective Jan. 1, 2015, Public Contract Code section 10504.5 was revised to increase the limits for informal competitive bidding from $100,000 to $640,000*.

In response to the new limits, the University of California has established a new program to prequalify prospective vendors to become "base qualified" to perform work at our ten (10) campus sites and five (5) medical centers.

Base qualification consists of the vendor completing the Base Qualification Questionnaire amd Attachment A: Supplemental Information Form.

A base qualified bidder will maintain the base qualified status for up to a year (for each UC campus the vendor designates) from the date of the signed Base Qualification Questionnaire Form.

The Planning Administration department will invite base qualified vendors on a rotating basis to participate in the informal competitive bid process for our capital projects. Rotation in the bid process is essential to the University's equal opportunity and fair bidding policies.

We are excited about this new platform and encourage your participation. We look forward to your qualification submittal.
