UCI Health Physician Network expands with Orange County Urology Associates as new affiliate
Affiliation strengthens commitment of UCI Health to expand coordinated, high-quality care across Southern California
Orange, Calif. — UCI Health is pleased to announce the expansion of its clinically integrated network (CIN) with the addition of Orange County Urology Associates as a founding affiliate. This builds on the network’s recent affiliate additions of United Medical Doctors and Associated Gastroenterology Medical Group, further strengthening the commitment of UCI Health to delivering coordinated, high-quality care across Southern California.
The UCI Health Physician Network unites the academic expertise of UCI Health with the specialized skills of a large private practice like Orange County Urology Associates, a leading urology group known for its comprehensive patient-centered approach, excellent clinical outcomes and minimally invasive surgical techniques. This collaboration enhances access to leading-edge urologic care, particularly for conditions such as prostate cancer, kidney stones and urinary incontinence, addressing a critical need in Orange County.
“Working with Orange County Urology Associates allows us to elevate urologic care by combining our academic research and innovative treatments with their exceptional community-based expertise,” said Tatyana Popkova, chief strategy officer and senior vice president of UCI Health. “This expansion of our clinically integrated network ensures patients have access to personalized, evidence-based care for complex urologic conditions.”
Dr. Jaime Landman, director of the Center for Urological Care and chair of the UCI Health Department of Urology, emphasized the importance of proactive care.
“Recent high-profile cases of advanced, aggressive prostate cancer underscore the critical need for regular screenings. Early detection can significantly improve outcomes. Our collaboration with Orange County Urology Associates further strengthens our ability to offer advanced diagnostic tools to catch conditions like prostate cancer before they progress.”
“Partnering with the UCI Health Physician Network is a significant step toward optimizing individual and community health outcomes through collaborative care,” said Moses Kim, MD, PhD, president and chief executive officer of Orange County Urology Associates. “Our expertise in comprehensive patient centered care aligns perfectly with the UCI Health mission — Discover,Teach, Heal — in delivering innovative, high-quality and coordinated care for our community.”
Addressing growing urology care needs
The need for specialized urologic care is rising, driven by increasing rates of prostate cancer and other urologic conditions.
According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the second most common cancer among men, with more than 299,000 new cases and 35,000 deaths in the United States in 2024. In California alone each year, more than 26,000 new cases are projected.
Additionally, kidney stones affect approximately 9% of the U.S. population. Urinary incontinence impacts up to 30% of women, particularly post-childbirth. These statistics underscore the importance of accessible, high-quality urologic care, which the UCI Health Physician Network aims to provide through integrated services.
The UCI Health Physician network leverages shared clinical protocols, data-driven quality metrics and advanced technologies to streamline care delivery. Patients benefit from seamless coordination between the tertiary-quaternary level care at UCI Health as the only academic medical system in the region and Orange County Urology Associates’ specialty services, including robot-assisted prostatectomies, kidney stone management and treatments for male and female incontinence.
