Orange, Calif. — UCI Health has been recognized as a top performer by Vizient® in its 2025 Ambulatory Quality and Accountability Ranking. UCI Health is one of only five health systems across the country to be recognized for demonstrating excellence in delivering high-quality outpatient care.

Recognitions were determined through the Vizient Ambulatory Quality and Accountability Study, which assesses data from participating facilities to measure performance in five domains: access to care, continuum of care, quality, efficiency and variation in care.

“UCI Health is among the leading national providers of outpatient care and this recognition demonstrates the commitment of every member of our team to the highest standards in primary and specialty ambulatory care,” said Chad T. Lefteris, president and CEO of UCI Health.

UCI Health is Orange County’s only academic health system and is among California’s largest. Vizient provides the gold standard analysis of quality and safety performance against the nation’s top health systems.

Comprehensive assessment

The Vizient Quality and Accountability report helps participating hospitals and health systems understand their performance against their peers. It also identifies structures and processes associated with high performance in quality and safety across a broad spectrum of patient care activity. The ratings in inpatient and ambulatory care are among the most comprehensive assessments of quality and safety a health system can face.

This year, 66 facilities participated in the performance study for work spanning July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025. The composite scoring system uses practice- and patient-level data from the AAMC-Vizient Clinical Practice Solutions Center®, Vizient Access and Throughput data and the Vizient Clinical Data Base.

“Congratulations to the team at UCI Health for being recognized as a top performer in the Vizient Ambulatory Quality and Accountability Study,” said David Levine, Vizient’s chief medical officer.

“This recognition reflects your continued commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and driving excellence in ambulatory performance. Your efforts set a strong example for providers across the country.”
