Khristine Felix is the inaugural recipient of the Excellence in Acute Care Nursing Award.

Orange, Calif. — Khristine Felix, a nurse at UCI Health — Orange, has received the inaugural Excellence in Acute Care Nursing Award for her dedication to professional development, exceptional leadership and the positive impact she makes on both patients and colleagues.

“Her commitment to professional growth not only benefits her own practice but also sets an example for the entire unit,” a colleague wrote of Felix in a nomination letter for Inpatient Nurse of the Year, for which she was a finalist.

“She encourages her peers to engage in learning, attend relevant workshops, and actively contribute to discussions about best practices. This spirit of ongoing education fosters a culture of excellence within our team.”

Felix’s ability to connect with patients was also highlighted.

“She goes the extra mile to ensure that patients' needs are met and that they receive the best possible care. Her empathy, combined with her clinical expertise, creates a healing environment that positively impacts patient outcomes.”

The Excellence in Acute Care Nursing Award is an endowed award recently created by a family wishing to honor bedside nurses who display the qualities of clinical excellence, compassion, professionalism, and commitment to patients and their families. It was created to recognize and celebrate everyday excellence in acute care nursing.
