UCI Health — Orange cancer services ranked 30th in nation by U.S. News & World Report

The UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center offers one of the largest clinical trial programs in region.

Orange, Calif. — Adult cancer services located at UCI Health — Orange, the flagship hospital of UCI Health, have been nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report, ranking the 30th best program in the nation. It is the highest ranked program based in Orange County.

U.S. News & World Report recognized high performing procedures and conditions related to cancer including:

  • Leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma
  • Gynecological cancer surgery
  • Prostate cancer surgery

The academic health system is home to the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center based in Orange County and one of just 58 in the nation.

The UCI Health Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program at UCI Health –– Irvine is also Orange County’s first and only adult bone marrow and hematopoietic stem cell transplant service. It recently completed its 400th procedure. The service is also accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) for meeting the national standard of excellence in cellular therapy programs.

The UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, which offers comprehensive cancer centers in both Orange and Irvine, along with specialty clinics throughout Orange County, offers the most advanced, highly specialized cancer care tailored to each patient’s physical and emotional needs. It treats more patients with cancer — and more complex cases such as cancer during pregnancy — than any other healthcare provider in Orange County.

The UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center offers one of the largest clinical trial programs in region. Every year, the health system partners with UC Irvine to host the UC Irvine Anti-Cancer Challenge, an annual event that raises awareness and funds for promising research at the center. Since its 2017 inception, the Anti-Cancer Challenge has raised $80 million to fund cancer pilot projects and early phase clinical trials.
