Protect Yourself from MyChart Scams

Scammers may use the MyChart name or logo to make an email look real. These emails may offer free gifts, rewards or other items and ask you to click a link, complete a survey or provide personal information.

What UCI Health patients should know

Your UCI Health MyChart account and the information in it are safe. These scam emails are not being sent by UCI Health, and the information used to send them was not obtained from UCI Health.
Scammers are sending these messages broadly to people across the country, whether or not they receive care at UCI Health.

How to spot a suspicious email

Be cautious if an email:

  • Offers a free gift, reward or “Medicare Kit” 
  • Asks you to complete a survey to receive something 
  • Asks for your password, financial information or other personal information 
  • Encourages you to click an unexpected link
  • Comes from an unfamiliar or unusual email address 

How to protect yourself

  • Do not click links in emails that seem suspicious. 
  • Do not share your password, personal information or financial information. 
  • If you are unsure about a message, open the UCI Health MyChart app or website directly instead of using a link in the email. 
  • Delete suspicious emails or mark them as spam.
