The accolade recognizes the 50-year legacy of exceptional clinical care, dedication to patient safety and commitment to innovation, research and education within the growing health system, which is powered by its connection to UC Irvine, a world-class research university.

Highly ranked adult specialties

UCI Health is nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report for excellence in more adult specialties than any other Orange County hospital in 2026–2027. It is also home to the highest-ranked cancer center based in Orange County.

High-quality, safe care

UCI Health — Orange has earned repeated recognition for high-quality, safe patient care from numerous national organizations, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Vizient Inc. and The Leapfrog Group.

The best in nursing

The medical center has been a Magnet-designated hospital since 2003. Multiple nursing units have also been recognized with Gold Beacon Awards from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. Both are prestigious signifiers of nursing excellence.

Setting sustainability standards

UCI Health is a forever organization, committed to sustainability at all levels. In December 2025, it opened the doors to UCI Health — Irvine, the nation’s first all-electric acute care hospital.

The health system has also been recognized for six consecutive years by healthcare sustainability organization Practice Greenhealth. In 2026, UCI Health earned its highest honor, the Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award. It has also earned The Joint Commission’s Sustainable Healthcare Certification. It is the first University of California hospital and fourth healthcare organization in the state to be certified.
